Backstreet Boys is the self-titled international debut studio album by American boy band Backstreet Boys. The album was released in Europe, Asia, Canada, and other markets. It was a success, becoming one of the biggest debut albums, and contains several of the band's most memorable singles. Those singles were later released on the second self-titled debut in the United States in 1997, which compiled songs from this album, and the band's second international release, Backstreet's Back.
The release date for the disc is somewhat disputed, with some sources listing 1995 and some listing 1996. Some confusion might be due to the release of different versions of the disc in other markets. Official charts for European countries, including Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, however, all give a release date of May 6, 1996, and data where available shows the album first appearing on various European charts within a couple of weeks of that date.
