This Is Us is the eighth studio album (seventh in the United States), from the Backstreet Boys. It was released on September 30, 2009 in Japan through Sony Music Japan, October 5, 2009 in the UK through RCA, and October 6 in the U.S. through Jive Records. This is also the band's second and last album as a quartet after Kevin Richardson left the band on June 23, 2006. However, Richardson permanently rejoined the band on April 29, 2012.

On the album, the group has reunited with previous collaborator and producer Max Martin (responsible for the previous hit "I Want It That Way") to try and create their best record since their 1999 worldwide hit album Millennium. They worked with Ryan Tedder, Claude Kelly, Jim Jonsin and T-Pain amongst others for the album as well.

Trivia[]

  • This is the third Backstreet Boys album to be named after an included song, after Backstreet's Back and Never Gone.
  • This is their final album as a quartet; Kevin Richardson returns to the group on April 29, 2012.
  • 4 tracks on this album were leaked prior to release. When asked about the leaks, A.J. McLean said that they were "P.O'ed" at first, but that it ended up being a good thing, since they "got to see which songs were more popular than others." [1]
